Activating your Student Account

WVU Portal is a web platform customized for Potomac State College of WVU students, and is, in essence, your lifeline to everything at the college. Through the Portal, you can check your midterm and final grades, Email instructors and fellow students, register for and add/drop classes, apply for housing, pay your bill, and access your transcript.

Information on how to access your email account will be provided with your I-20; however, there may be an overlap in time the I-20 is sent and the time needed to access your account for various reasons.  In this case, please follow these steps:

  • Follow this link: portal.wvu.edu to go to the WVU Portal log in page and then use the WVU ID number and email provided to you in your initial acceptance email for the following:
  • For User Name, type in the first part of your MIX email address before the @ sign (e.g., asmith51)
  • In the Password box, enter your default password.  Your default password is the two-digit date of your birth plus the last four digits of your WVU identification number. For example, if you were born on March 5 and the last four digits of your WVU ID are 1234, your default password would be 051234.
  • Click Login.

Now you are ready to navigate the WVU Portal system!
