Auditions for Willy Wonka to be held at Potomac State

The West Virginia University Potomac State College Theatre Department will be holding open auditions for their annual play production on Sunday, November 12 and Monday, November 13 at the Church-McKee Arts Center, beginning promptly at 7 p.m. each evening.  The College will present the musical “Willy Wonka” in the spring of 2018.

If you’d like to audition for one of the parts, plan to arrive early in order to give yourself time to fill out the audition form, and to have the opportunity to meet the directors and Willy Wonkachoreographer. The audition will consist of: 1) You’ll be taught a short dance combination so come prepared to dance in loose fitting clothes and wear comfortable/proper shoes (dance shoes, etc.).  2) Prepare a short song to showcase your voice at its best.  Also bring an accompaniment of your choice...either a score for our accompanist to play, your own accompanist (a piano will be provided), or a CD or MP3.

Willy Wonka” is musical fantasy based on the Roald Dahl’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and features all the great songs from the 1971 movie adaptation that starred Gene Wilder. “Willy Wonka” will consist of a large cast with many children and adult roles to fill. The show will be directed by Kim Rowley and Jordan Kline, with musical direction by Sean and Debi Beachy.

Rehearsals will begin January 8, 2018. Show dates are March 16-25.  For more information, please contact Dr. Brian Plitnik (producer) at 304-788-6969 or at Brian.Plitnik@mail.wvu.edu
