This following is the 2010 Welcome Week/Campus Connections schedule.

 

Welcome Week/Campus Connections is Potomac State College's way of welcoming and orienting new and returning students to campus.  By participating, you will socialize with other students and hopefully, you will get to know some of the faculty and staff who will be your guides to academic and personal success.

 

The activities and events are open to all students, whether you commute from home or if you reside in one of the College's residence halls.

 

 

 

 

 

Friday, August 20th

 

8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.  Student Services Day---Course registration, bill payment, financial aid, meal plans, Catamount I.D. Cards, Mountie Bounty registration, parking permits---Church-McKee Auditorium. (Many of these services can be taken care of online through your MIX account. You only need to stop by if necessary.)

 

9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Residence Hall Check-in for First-year Students Only---students residing in University Place should report to the Heritage Room in that building to check-in and students residing in Friend, Reynolds, Memorial or Davis Halls should report to the top floor of the Student Union to check-in to their rooms. (Students must register for courses and pay bills prior to checking-in to residence halls; students residing in University Place must have a Catamount I.D. Card to check into the building.)

 

10:00 a.m-2:00 p.m.  Placement Tests---Academic Success Center, Science Hall, Room 116. (Check with Enrollment Services to see if placement testing is necessary.)


11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.  Welcome Picnic---on the Quad. (There is no cost for lunch.)

 

2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Parent Orientation Session presented by Dean of Student Affairs in University Place Theater.

 

3:00 p.m.  Money Matters presented by PNC Bank in University Place Theater

 

5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Student Dinner in the Potomac Commons in University Place. (Students must present their Catamount I.D. Card to enter the Commons. Cost for dinner is $9.75 for those not on a meal plan.)

 

7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Volleyball ---on the Quad.

 

9:00 p.m.- 11:30 p.m.  Pizza Social---top floor of Student Union (The Loft).

 

Saturday, August 21st

 

 10:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Brunch in the Potomac Commons in University Place. (Students who are on a meal plan must display their Catamount I.D. Card to enter Commons.  Cost for brunch is $8 for those not on a meal plan.)

2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Technology-Computer Stuff You Need to Know---Academy Hall Room 119.

 

4:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Student Dinner in the Potomac Commons in University Place. (Students who are on a meal plan must display their Catamount I.D. Card to enter Commons. Dinner is $9.75 for those not on a meal plan.)

 

7:00 p.m.  3 vs 3 Pickup Basketball---Outdoor Basketball Court.

 

7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Movie Night---University Place Theater.

 

 Sunday, August 22nd

 

9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.  Residence Hall Check-in for New and Returning Students---students residing in University Place should report to the Heritage Room in University Place to check-in and students residing in Friend, Reynolds, Memorial or Davis Halls should report to the top floor of the Student Union to check-in to their rooms. 1:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.  Self-guided Tours of Academic Buildings---Pick up maps at the Mary F. Shipper Library and find out where your classes are going to be held.

 

2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Parent Orientation Session presented by Dean of Student Affairs in University Place Theater.

 

2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Technology-Computer Stuff You Need to Know---Academy Hall Room 119

Monday, August 23rd

 

Classes Begin!

 

8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Questions relating to course registration and financial aid will be addressed in Enrollment Services Office.

 

Bill payment continues (late charges apply to unpaid bills effective today) in Cashier's Office located on 100-level of the Administration Building.

 

New meal plan registration and purchase continues in Residential Education Office located on the 100-level of University Place.

 

Changes made to existing meal plans in Potomac Commons until September 7.

 

Catamount I.D.Card distribution continues in Student Affairs Office located in Room 104 of the Administration Building.

 

Parking permits may be purchased at the University Police Department.

 

Placement Tests by appointment in Enrollment Services.

(Students who have registered but not completed bill payment or other items listed above are expected to attend their Monday classes and labs, and to complete their financial transactions during free time.)

 

4:00 p.m.-7:00p.m.  Keyser Shopping Shuttle---shuttle service will run every half hour (approximate) from in front of University Place. 

 

7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Game Night---the Loft of the Student Union.

11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.  Local Community Fair Featuring Local Businesses, Churches, and Organizations---on the Quad.

Wednesday, August 25th

 

12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m.  Commuter Student Pizza Social---the Loft of the Student Union.

 

6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Video Game Night---the Loft of the Student Union.

 

7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.  Welcome to the Party---UP Theater.

 

9:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m. PSC Late Night (Karaoke Competition)---Potomac Commons.

 

Thursday, August 26th

 

6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Video Game Night---the Loft of the Student Union.

  

9:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m. PSC Late Night---Potomac Commons.

 

10:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m. Ballistic Bowling---Rainbow Lanes in Keyser (must have current Catamount I.D.Card to gain entry to event.)
